Overview
The Parents and Grandparents Program (PGP) lets Canadian citizens and permanent residents sponsor their parents and grandparents for permanent residence. Intake is limited, and potential sponsors are usually invited to apply from a pool of submitted interest forms.
Key requirements at a glance
- Current status: paused. IRCC is not accepting new interest forms or sending invitations until further notice, but continues processing existing applications
- When open, sponsors must meet minimum income requirements for the 3 tax years before applying
- Sponsors commit to supporting the sponsored parents or grandparents for 20 years
- The super visa is the main alternative while the program is paused
