Overview
The super visa lets parents and grandparents of Canadian citizens, permanent residents and registered Indians visit for up to 5 years at a time, with multiple entries over a period of up to 10 years. Extensions of 2 years can be requested from inside Canada. It is often the practical alternative while the Parents and Grandparents Program is paused.
Key requirements at a glance
- A signed invitation letter from the child or grandchild, including a commitment of financial support
- Proof that the host's household income meets the minimum requirement
- Private medical insurance that meets IRCC's requirements
- Medical exam, and dependants can't be included in the application
