Overview

The Federal Skilled Worker Program is one of three federal economic programs managed through Express Entry. It is designed for skilled workers, including managers and professionals, whose work experience was gained mainly outside Canada. Eligible candidates enter the Express Entry pool, are ranked under the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS), and may be invited to apply for permanent residence.

Key requirements at a glance

• At least 1 year (1,560 hours) of continuous, paid skilled work experience in the last 10 years, in one NOC in TEER 0, 1, 2 or 3
• Your duties must match the lead statement and most of the main duties of that NOC
• Minimum language level of CLB 7 in English or French, from an approved test
• Canadian education, or foreign education with an Educational Credential Assessment (ECA)
• At least 67 points on the FSW selection grid
• Proof of settlement funds, unless you have a valid job offer or are authorized to work in Canada
