Overview
Most provinces and territories run a Provincial Nominee Program to select immigrants who meet their economic needs. A provincial nomination either adds 600 CRS points to an Express Entry profile ("enhanced" streams) or leads to a separate paper-based PR application ("base" streams). Streams open, close and change often.
Key requirements at a glance
- Each province sets its own streams, criteria and intake method, often by invitation
- Many streams target specific occupations, graduates of local schools, or workers with a job offer in that province
- You must intend to live in the province that nominates you
- Ontario's OINP has been redesigned in 2026, and previous streams have been replaced; check current availability before planning around it
